BAC Local 2 MI Welcomes Newest Apprentices during Michigan's Apprentice Signing Week

Yesterday, we welcomed Jayden Thurlow (third place winner in the 2019 SkillsUSA MI Masonry Competition) and Brenden Shooltz as BAC Local 2 MI Newest Apprentices as they signed their US DOL Registered Apprentice Agreement as part of Michigan’s Apprentice Signing Week at the Genesee Career Institute in Flint, MI.

Jayden Thurlow and Brenden Shooltz are graduating High School Seniors, and Brenden also graduated with North America's Building Trades Unions Apprentice Readiness Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3) Certificate!

We are proud that they are entering a registered apprenticeship with the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 2 MI.  We thank Howard Hipes, MI BAC Local 2 MI Training Center Apprentice Coordinator, for his work with the US DOL, GST Michigan Works, Genesee Career Institute, and Skills USA in making this day possible.

Russ Davis, State Director US DOL Office of Apprenticeship, was in attendance and spoke about the importance of the MC3 Curriculum which helps to introduce young, talented individuals with career options in the Professional Trades.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer declared May 6-10 as the inaugural Going PRO in Michigan Signing Week. Much like high school student athletes committing to playing collegiate sports, these students are celebrating finding careers in the professional trades.
